For these kind of recordings, I use DePopper which has filters for big clicks, small pops, hiss noise, and the possibility to extract the center. Sometimes, the center extraction improves the distorsion aspect, sometimes not, it depends on each individual track and on the angle of the stylus on the ...

You can try to apply a bandpass filter to keep only the frequecies effectively recorded from the source, filter properly the hiss noise, and compress to reduce, not the clipping, bur the sensation of clipping. The settings depend much on the audio you get, so you must try different settings and adju...

In many cases, the vocals are recorded exactly on the center of the recording, then the signal of the voice is perfectly equal in both left and right channels. Then, you can remove them by adding the left channel and the inverted right channel. That will neutralize the signal of everything who is ex...

Spectrum analyzer
I stated that the spectrum analyzer has wrong frequencies values in logarythmic mode:
The signal has been cut at 15800 Hz exactly. It is what is displayed in the linear scale, but not in the logarythmic one.

When you remove the vocals, the result is a substraction Left-Right. If you mix that to the original, you will have (left-right) + (left+right) = 2×left. You need a center extractor, like on some Dolby Surround systems. In the new version 2.17 of DePopper , there is such a possiblility, though the a...

Possible explanations, but not sure about it. That can be due to some phase changes inside the signal. Some frequencies are delayed more than other, then some peaks will be in the same direction (positive or negative) and synchronized, though they were in the opposite direction or one had its peaks ...

Assuming that you have not swapped X/Y: The vertical direction indicates the modulation of the right track, and the horizontal direction the left track. A monaural signal equal in both tracks will show a diagonal Left-Bottom to Right-Top If you see a diagonal Left-Top to Right-Bottom, that means tha...

I'm starting to use the expression evaluator, I try to find some tricks to help to recover harmonics in the treeble range, and the processes are rather long, several minutes. I want to use some other programmes meanwhile, and I have always the "processing evaluation time remaining" window ...

I had still the problem after I reformated completely my computer in February, but I have found a solution to get a sound at any playback rate. First, I set the playback rate at 192000 Hz, I play shortly to initiate the driver or codec (an element likeky from Real Player), and I set to the right pla...
