Re: Loud audio clips at -.1dB, not lighting peak clip indica
I ended up getting a Creative X-Fi PCIe card. By setting the master sampling rate to 44.1K, 16-Bit and using Goldwave in the DirectSound mode (Control Properties>System>DirectSound API) I was able to successfully record at 44.1K, 16-Bit and see peak clipping on the record VU meter when the level was...

Re: Loud audio clips at -.1dB, not lighting peak clip indica
As far as I can see in any of the setup screens of RealTek, there is no peak limiting device. In fact, I always turn off all audio enhancing settings, like EQ and sonic maximizers, in a soundcard. I want pure audio. What I have determined is that RealTek, in the Dell Audio settings screen, allows yo...

Loud audio clips at -.1dB, not lighting peak clip indicator
A useful feature of Goldwave is the red peak clipping indicator on the VU meter. I rely on it when setting input levels to be sure no peaks reach 0 VU. I recently changed to a Windows 7 PC with the onboard RealTek HD Audio. When recording in Goldwave, even if I purposely overdrive the input audio to...

What functions depend on soundcard?
I have Goldwave installed on a Dell Vostro 1500 notebook that has a rather poor implementation of audio. The Signatel drivers are plagued with pops and clicks that Dell hasn't been able to resolve. I do occasionally do editing with Goldwave on that notebook. My question is if I edit an existing .wav...

The problem is definitely a Creative problem. I never intended to imply that it was a problem with Goldwave. I can see the same 95% clipping with any recording software. I have diagnosed the problem and now can isolate it and describe exactly what is happening. In the Audigy soundcard all audio is f...

Creative has asked, and I have supplied, screenshots of the recordings. It has been a few days since my last support email to them, so I am currently awaiting their response. In the Creative forum I did get a user to run the test on his Audigy and he saw the same 95% clipping when recording at a sam...

First, a simple restatement of my problem -- On my Audigy 2 ZS card, regardless of the recording source (wave, MP3, line-in, etc.) the recorded waveform does not extend beyond 95% of full scale. While recording, I can see the VU meter stopping just before full scale. It behaves as if there were a ha...

The master volume and the volume in WMP are both at 100%. I tried another Audigy 2 card and got the same results. I uninstalled Audigy software and drivers and installed a Turtle Beach Santa Cruz card and I could easily record wave to wave and have plenty of gain to easily reach clipping on the reco...

Audio record level low in Audigy 2 - Please run this test:
I have been trying to chase down a problem with my Audigy 2 ZS soundcard. I need to know what other Goldwave-with-Audigy users see when recording. Please run this test and report your results. This will only take a minute. 1. Launch Windows Media Player and load an existing wave file containing at l...
