Re: GW crashes entire system v6.52/Win10/XeonCPU/NvidiaK4000

The situation is that my PC does have once-in-a-while catastrophic complete sudden crashes. This occurs about once a month - so it is quite rare. Gnq Gnq, that should not be happening at all! "Once a month" is not rare. That's a definite problem. I'm not sure how you'd track that down oth...

Kummel: I hadn't really thought about it but going to MP3 as the itunes import default makes sense. Then I won't have problems with conversion later. Chris: Thanks for looking at it. JackH: *.m4a files show up in my GW 5.20 open dialogs. Although I don't see that file extension listed as such, they ...

M4A files not opening in GW after 7.3.1.3 itunes update

Anyone else have a problem opening m4a (itunes) files in GW 5.20 after latest itunes update? I was able to open m4a files in GW before the last update to itunes. Looks like itunes 7.3.0.54 is the last one that still works. I tried updating to itunes 7.3.1.3 and that one won't allow GW to process/ope...

Re: recording several inputs at once

It does recognize the different inputs on the the Delta1010 (and, I would suppose, on the LT) as unique inputs with one catch: it sees them as unique stereo pairs...You can also output to any of the stereo-paired outputs. Basically, WindowsXP sees the Delta1010 as not one, but many different device...

For initial recording of old LPs and then splitting them into tracks I like to use CDWave (www.cdwave.com). I still use Goldwave after that to fix pops, trim tracks, filter and so on.

Another thing you might consider is the use of an external compressor/limiter when you are doing the original recordings. These are devices you plug the mics into and then set so that you get lots of gain without peak distortion. We use one here at work and it cut way down on the amount of post-proc...

Go to the Options menu, select "Window..." and make sure the checkbox labeled "Use left and right mouse button selection method" IS checked. That should give you the same function as older GW versions.

I needed to transfer some 4 channel reel to reel original tapes. These 4 channel tapes were important to me and I wanted to preserve them as they are with all 4 channels intact and separated. I wound up getting a Presonus Firepod which has 8 inputs and connects via firewire to the computer. The Fire...

It's possible to do that to some degree in Goldwave but it's much easier in Multiquence. In Multiquence you can put the same audio file into a couple of tracks, split the tracks up where you need to extend and then use pieces from one to extend the other. Use the fade graph to gently fade out the en...

I've had better luck just using the "light hiss removal" rather than the clipboard option. The clipboard option tends to introduce some oddness to the final sound. At least that's the case with the files I've worked on lately.

I've been looking at this too. Here's what I found. I tried some simple experiments with short mono tracks in MQ and GW using ideas from various places including this forum. Best results for me seemed to be simply putting the same mono file into MQ twice on 2 tracks, one copy per track. Pan one trac...
