Re: id3 track field is erased for WAV format

What I find concerning about this thread is learning that tags in a wav file (regardless of where they came from or even if they are "legal") can simply disappear should one use GW to edit the file. Things like that are often not found until way down the road when recovering that informati...

Re: Naming cue points

Hi, I went back and reread the thread from the opening post, and now reading your last steps, I'm wondering if we've all jumped a notch too far, right from the get go. If I understand your first and last posts correctly, you're ripping a disk into an audio file. Opening that with GW, locating the tr...

Re: Naming cue points

Another feature that might fit in well with what you're doing is in the "Options / Storage" Under "Cue Points Storage" there's a check box for "Automatically import and export separate cue file" If you activate this, whenever you open a file (even in batch mode) if ther...

Re: how to improve a track which have seperate channels ?

excuse me Doug, but what is "the OP" ? Sorry Michael, just shorthand for "original post" ... your opening post, instead of adding to the ongoing thread. The thread was responding to your request of "what can I do" ... I'm just trying to explain it wasn't a goof, there'...

Re: Flac 24 bit to Stereo/Mono wave file

I found this thread because it most closely matches the issue I'm having, and IMO the extra detail in the OP is clouding the real issue, and that's the 6db drop in volume. Well, that's my issue anyway. I have a stereo .wav file, nothing special, except that when it's recorded there is only a left si...

Re: how to improve a track which have seperate channels ?

I don't know what the sound engineer performed but he may produce a mistake in this track (other tracks on the CD don't hve this problem). In this track, the left channel offer the voice, and the right one the instrumental music ! This is an old post, but the OP talks about it being a mistake when ...

Re: External access to LUFS value

Thanks, can you suggest where I might learn how that value is extracted from wave file?
I've written a couple of programs that read a .wav file and have modified it, so I'd give that a try if I knew more about the logic and how that's calculated.

External access to LUFS value

The tool - Amplitude Statistics - provides a lot of useful information, in a pop up window. I'd like to be able to use the LUFS value in an external program (to adjust volume control) But to do so, I need to extract this value for each song. Is there a way via batch to run the Amplitude Statistics f...

Re: "Error - Install Missing Presets" box, all config lost

Could there be multiples? Possible, there could have been a new one starting very quickly after one finished. I have a control program that I use to invoke various audio functions, GW being the primary tool it calls. So, click close; click start new ... possible. However, I have had multiple occurre...

"Error - Install Missing Presets" box, all config lost

I use Goldwave a lot, after a bunch of uses this morning, I start it again and get the Error box that says "Install Missing Presets?" Goldwave settings and presets could not be found for current user. Took me all the way back to a "fresh install", even the license was missing, th...

Re: FLAC file created by GW, won't open in GW

If that information is true, that's not a FLAC Don't forget.... GW created this file from an edited .wav file, using "max compression, 16bit, mono" FLAC After using Audacity to open the problem FLAC file, then saved as .wav, then using GW to recreate a new FLAC "that" new FLAC f...

Re: FLAC file created by GW, won't open in GW

I see "Media Foundation MPEG1, 32000 Hz, 112 kbps, mono" Black screen, all time values are zero. When trying to load, this happens right away, when I open it in Audacity, it takes 30 sec to open (and plays just fine) -- this particular file is almost 2hr long. I tried the "uncheck Dir...

FLAC file created by GW, won't open in GW

I archived a number of .wav files by converting to .flac using GW 6.24 Now when I go to open them, I only get a black window, no error, no file. The good news, I guess, is they open in Audacity, VLC, Total Recorder, even GW on XP. I updated to 6.27, after seeing some reference to flac, didn't help. ...
