Re: Can the parametric EQ be driven by text file input?

I would like to use the parametric EQ module to adjust a recording based on the calibration file that came with my microphone. The text file is delimited and has two columns of frequency vs amplitude. It looks like this: 770.9704, -1.396398 822.3684, -1.424025 873.7665, -1.449109 950.8635, -1.48199...

Re: Best practice to reduce a 24/192 recording down to 16/44

Hello everyone, I have a recording done in 24 bit resolution and 192khz sampling rate. I would like to learn the best practices for reducing this recording down to 16 bits and 44.1khz. I plan to do this conversion as the very last step in the process, unless it should be done sooner for a reason I ...

Re: MP3 I/O

I'm not a developer or anything like that, just a regular user, but I believe I know the answers to your questions and I'll answer them now, and then Chris (the developer) can correct me if I'm wrong on anything. Question: when GW applies normalization or EQ to an opened MP3 file, I guess GW would h...

Re: Selection f(samples)

It's a computer/programming tradition to start counting at zero. If you are addressing memory there truly is an address zero location in hardware and in an audio file sample zero also exists. i.e. with 4 bits we can count from binary 0000 (decimal zero) to 1111 (decimal 15 or hexadecimal F). OK, I ...

Re: How to create a "tone" with wider bandwidth

Hi folks, In the Expression Evaluator, I can create a single-frequency tone using an expression such as: sin(2*pi*f*t) The spectrum of this would be a peak at a single frequency (left diagram below). My question is how to create a signal like that on the right - still a single peak but with a sprea...

Re: Bug report - Grid

I was just wondering if there is ever going to be a GoldWave 5.71 with this bug fixed? My laptop has Windows 7 but my main desktop still has XP 32-bit and I mainly use the desktop one and right now I have to do the math in a calculator before entering it in the windows options of GoldWave 5.70, so I...

Re: Beta bug report - Spectrum Visual

In GoldWave 6.10 I generated a 100hz Sine wave into a 48khz mono file and this is what the spectrum visual displays (with visual set to FFT 12): http://i57.tinypic.com/8vofid.jpg First of all both the top and bottom displays should be the same since this is a mono file. In the top one the peak is al...

Re: Sound window display issue

The beta is easily downloaded, but can't be installed without a beta key. There is a message in the installation dialogue that if you don't have a key, you are not authorized to install the beta (and not to contact Goldwave for one - but under the circumstances, maybe Chris will provide us with one...

Bug report - Grid

This is in GoldWave 5.70 (and I'm pretty sure it's the same in 6.08 Beta): http://i57.tinypic.com/j8191e.png The grid says "Spacing (s):" (s) would stand for seconds am I correct? Correct me if I'm wrong but... a spacing of 0.8 seconds would mean the frequency of the grid lines would occur...

Beta bug report - Spectrum Visual

I discovered a bug In GoldWave 6.08 Beta. I generated a 240 Hz Sine Wave and this is how it looked in the Spectrum Visual upon playing it: http://i60.tinypic.com/14lm421.jpg The peak line is turning up about 20 Hz to the left of where it should be. This only happens on a stereo file with the log sca...

Re: Should include linear freq scale in...

I second this request, I have always wanted that feature in the spectrum filter and noise reduction effect! I also wish there was an option to choose how the points get inserted when you click the button to add a new point. Right now it just adds it at the half-way point linearly between the point y...

Re: best settings to save an MP3 file

Firstly, editing an MP3 file if that is what you are doing is not too smart because you will lose quality no matter how you save it. Not if you save it as a .wav file. You probably meant saving as mp3, but technically speaking... saving as a wav will not lose any quality, so if someone wants to sav...

Can someone help me shorten this expression?

Hi! I want to create a sine wave but with harmonics (all - both odd and even) that roll off in amplitude (each harmonic is lower than the previous one starting with the fundamental and going up) but I want to do it linearly and not logarithmically... not sure if I said that right, but the way it wou...

Re: OverWrite oddity (menu Edit | Overwrite)

If you manually select the "Default" preset again, do the settings look correct? Chris Nope! I tried doing Noise Reduction at "16x" overlap, hit ok, went back in to noise reduction effect window and it said "8x", so I clicked on the preset list and chose "Default&...

Re: OverWrite oddity (menu Edit | Overwrite)

It's interesting how a small problem like that can go unnoticed or unreported for many years. Chris, GoldWave have tons of small little problems that I'm shocked no one has mentioned yet... that being said, I didn't feel like reporting them because I felt like maybe everyone didn't care that much a...
