Re: What is the XAC format?

Google found it!!! Postby GoldWave Inc. » Thu Jun 21, 2012 7:02 am XAC is an internal format GoldWave uses to store uncompressed audio larger than 4GB. It may be phased out in future updates in favour of more standardized formats such as RF64. Chris I Googled: XAC FILE FORMAT AUDIO All I know is I ...

What is the XAC format?

It's called Extended Audio in the file save dialog. So is this supposed to be a publicly documented file format? Or is it a proprietary format designed just for GoldWave? My Google searches have so far found nothing on it.

Feature suggestion clipboard convolution

My suggestion is to allow data in the clipboard to be convolved with the waveform being processed. When you click Ctrl+M you can add a signal from the clipboard. When you click "mechanize" you can select "clipboard" to multiply the waveform with the content of the clipboard. My s...

How do I do FFT frequency shift?

Or is this even possible in Goldwave? I'm looking for a way to shift all frequencies down by 2kHz. Any frequencies below 2kHz should be discarded. Since the highest frequency is 24kHz (with sample rate of 48kHz) that means after a down shift of 2kHz, all frequencies between 22kHz and 24kHz should be...

How does Goldwave do filtering?

In addition to the frequency domain filter, there's the high/low pass filter tool, and the band pass/stop filter tool. Given how fast they operate, I assume they are using an IIR filter rather than an FIR filter. However, in the research I've done on IIR filters, to compute the coefficients you need...

How should I configure a Visual C++ 2015 project?

My compiler and IDE is Microsoft Visual C++ 2015. I'm intending to compile an "effects" type plugin for GoldWave 5.70. Can somebody give me step by step instructions on how to configure Visual C++ 2015 it, so that it will properly compile GoldWave plugins? There's TONS of menus in Visual C...

Re: Question about 384khz sound devices

Sorry to kick up an old topic; I don't get around much anymore. Usually (from my understanding) an ADC chip isn't clocked. It's free running. Whatever analog signal goes in, is instantly represented in digital form on the output pins (16 pins for 16 bit ADC, or 24pins for 24bit ADC). No. There is s...

Re: Question about 384khz sound devices

Anybody here have a chance to try out this yet? http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00CYPTOM4
What is its actual frequency response? Does it actually have the full nyquist-limited frequency range available on bout output and input?

Re: Question about 384khz sound devices

But those things cost TENS OF THOUSANDS of dollars for the most part. Their "cheap" one still cost over $6000. Can it be that hard to manufacture a device with a 384kHz clock oscillator crystal? I know... I assumed you didn't have that kind of budget. It's not just the clock... You can't ...

Re: Question about 384khz sound devices

After looking at both the DACs and ADCs at the site you linked to, I found them to be absurdly expensive. I was expecting devices 384kHz DACs and ADCs to be in the several hundred dollar range. But those things cost TENS OF THOUSANDS of dollars for the most part. Their "cheap" one still co...

Re: Question about 384khz sound devices

Could you please point me to a device that has both a 384kHz DAC and a 384kHz ADC? The one you linked me to has only a 384kHz ADC, but not a DAC. Poke around the MSB website a little more, they make both. Or just Google. I meant I was hoping they sold one unit that did both (so I don't have to buy ...

Re: Question about 384khz sound devices

Google turned-up MSB Technology but it's "audiophile" stuff and an ADC & DAC is going to be very expensive! 384khz sample rate on both input and output, and with both the input and output being analog, means I could have sinewaves with frequencies anywhere between 0 and 192khz, You're...

Question about 384khz sound devices

Is there any sound device that has 384khz sample rate for both input and output, and that has both the input and the output being analog (not digital) audio? And now an explanation for why I'm hoping that such a device exists. 384khz sample rate on both input and output, and with both the input and ...

Re: 500kHz sample rate?

Do you like extremely large files, for some reason? 384kHz is the highest rate at which I've ever seen anything sampled. All you have to do is Google for the DAC's if you're interested. On searching for 384khz sampling rate audio hardware, I've found this device http://samtechonline.com/hida20a32da...

500kHz sample rate?

I see that GoldWave supports input and output sample rates of up to 500khz (if the hardware is able to do it). What DAC (digital to analog converter) or ADC (analog to digital converter) is actually capable of 500khz sampling? I thought the highest was 192khz for audio equipment. Any idea on 500khz,...
