Re: Unusual Spectrum Analysis - Need help

Hi Chris, Thanks for the suggestion. None of the choices in the Noise Reduction filter do nearly as well as increasing the FFT Size in the Spectrum Filter for my files. The frequencies I am trying to measure are in the middle of the "noise". With a higher resolution FFT, they are clearly v...

Re: How can a new setting in Spectrum Filter be Saved?

Hi Chris, Thanks for the replies on 3 messages. Hitting "Default" as the preset name does save the FFT Size (e.g. 15) as the default within the Spectrum Filter window, but does not effect the Spectrum visual in the Control Window - which is what I REALLY want to do. With the Spectrum Filte...

How can a new setting in Spectrum Filter be Saved?

As far as I can see, there is no way to save anything you change in the Spectrum Filter Window to apply it to the chosen audio file. To reproduce my delima, select an audio file, open the Spectrum Filter, set FFT Size to 14, type in a new preset "FFT 14" and hit the green + sign beside the...

Apply in Spectrum Filter Grayed out

This somewhat relates to the Apply button in other filters being grayed out - but the solutions of saving the file do not apply as the spectrum plot in the Control Window is the "output"; the sound file is not intended to be modified. To reproduce my delima, open the Spectrum Filter, set F...

Re: Unusual Spectrum Analysis - Need help

I can answer my own question.

Somehow in the joy of finding golden nuggets in GW everywhere I turned, I missed right click/properties in the spectrum panel of the Control Window.

There I can select for the x-axis Logarithmic (or not) and specify the frequency range.

Problem 1 solved!

Re: Unusual Spectrum Analysis - Need help

Hi DougDbug, Thanks for the suggestions. Of course, conversion to .wav is zero problem, as GW supports that. On using Metlab or the likes, this is for a project dealing with noise and their sources in a moving Golf Cart, so I don't want to get into a brand new, expensive (in learning hours if not $$...

Unusual Spectrum Analysis - Need help

I am trying to use GW for a rather unusual application - analyzing the sound produced by a gasoline golf cart during operation. I realize it is not tailored to this purpose, but it so very close! I have captured the sounds in the cab of a golf cart via a reaonably good movie camera, which can also r...
