Re: Question about auto recording ...
Sorry, but I've never used that feature. I do see a "minimum duration" option so I assume it's going to stop recording some time after the sound stops. The low level is probably a hardware issue. GoldWave is getting the Audio from your soundcard and Windows. You can adjust the recording vo...

Re: Question about auto recording ...
Possibly. Have you downloaded the free trial? If you go to Options-> Control Properties -> Record, you'll find a check-box labeled Level Activated. ...I'm not sure how practical it is to have a computer connected and running GoldWave all of the time, but that's up to you. And, you'll need a computer...

Re: Sustain a note
You can try some Reverb. Just select the last beat or two. I think you'll have to add some silence after the sound cuts-off, to leave space for the reverb. And/or Echo. Again one or two beats, and set the delay time for one or two beats so the tempo matches. Both of those effects "layer" o...

Just a guess but go to Options -> Control Properties -> Record -> Record Mode and make sure Unbounded is checked.

Re: I am a new member here and I have a request
It depends on what the problems are, and how bad. If you have a bad recording there is often little or nothing you can do. Pros still record in soundproof studios with good equipment, professional performers and good microphone placement, etc., because even with pro software there's only so-much you...

Re: The paid version of GoldWave
They will email your license codes and you enter it via Options -> Register . (You can just copy & paste.) Occasionally the email might get blocked by your spam blocker so if you don't get it check your spam folder. There is a "lost license" form here and/or there is a link to a web-e...

Re: The paid version of GoldWave
Here is the official purchase page . The lifetime license is $59 USD. I've had a license for more than 20 years so I'm not sure about the details. You can click on the price button without checking the PayPal box and I assume you can use a credit card. ...Back when I bought GoldWave I had a choice ...

Re: Including additional metadata in File Information
I use MP3Tag after I have the individual files. (It works with all the common formats, not just MP3.) You can optionally select all of the files in a folder to enter the album title, artist, genre, year, etc., and then enter the individual song titles & track numbers, etc. It doesn't take long a...

Did you install FFmpeg?

Re: Split files are LARGER than original
There are 8-bits in a byte so 30 kilo bits per second is 3.75 kilo bytes per second or 225kB per minute. (That doesn't include any embedded artwork.) You can check the format before & after with MediaInfoOnline (or you can install MediaInfo on your computer). ...We usually don't "talk about...

Re: Save As, but retain type
It seems to remember the basic type (MP3, WAV, etc.) but not the attributes/details. so that no re-coding is needed. When you open a compressed file in any "normal" audio editor or DAW it gets decompressed.* If you re-save as MP3 you are going through another generation of lossy compressio...

Re: Pre-sales question: record song snippets from Spotify?
Yes. Read above! But note that it's a copyright violation and a violation of your Spotify agreement. If they wanted you to have a copy they would give you a "download" button. The artist gets a fraction of a penny every time you stream a song, but they get nothing once you've stolen it. I...

Re: Installing Golcwave in Linux?
The FAQ recommends GoldWave Infinity (browser based).
(I'm a Windows guy and I haven't bothered to try it.)
Or Audacity (open source audio editor) may be a better choice for you.

Re: No sound when using Behringer device
I don't own the Behringer but it's supposed to be plug-and-play with the Windows supplied drivers. There may be an optional ASIO driver (ASIO4ALL ?) but GoldWave isn't an ASIO application. (Installing the ASIO driver shouldn't hurt anything.) Can you use it as a playback device with other applicatio...
