Re: bought but haven't got a license yet

Check your junk mail folder(s), and if you still haven't received your license then contact GoldWave via this page:

Re: Cannot determine format of file in windows 8.1 in GoldWa

I just did a clean install of Windows 8.1 Pro using the ISO downloaded from the Microsoft Partners site. I installed GoldWave 5.70 and it opened an mp3 file without difficulty. Two possibilities come to mind: 1. Are you perhaps installing from an earlier Beta or Preview release of Windows 8.1 that m...

Re: Cannot determine format of file in windows 8.1 in GoldWa

I just tried opening an mp3 file in GoldWave 5.70 under Windows 8.1 and it worked fine. The machine was upgraded from Windows 8 to Windows 8.1, so perhaps that makes a difference, but the test does indicate that GoldWave doesn't have a problem with Windows 8.1 per se.

Re: Protecting silent track from Autotrim

It seems a bit strange that you want to batch process files containing complete silence. I can only guess that they are "spacer" files that File Merger will "glue together" with other files later on. Do you have a way of identifying the silent files? Can you move them to a separate folder, AutoTrim ...

Re: Restore settings from backup

I believe that the "official" way is to run GoldWave Setup (Start > All Programs > GoldWave > GoldWave Setup) and then use the "Backup Settings..." and "Restore Settings..." buttons.

Re: Average volume of 24 bit WAV

When performing the Average Volume calculation GoldWave ignores periods of silence longer than 5ms where "silence" is defined as samples whose absolute value is smaller than 0.006 (normalized). That corresponds to about -44.4 dB. So, if an entire selection is below that threshold then the Average Vo...

Re: How to extend a recording from 30 secs to 30 minutes

You'll need to be more specific. Do you want to loop the 30 seconds of audio 60 times? Do you want to simply add 29 minutes and 30 seconds of silence to the end of the file? Or perhaps something else...?

You can try going into Options > Control Properties..., then on the "System" tab select "Use DirectSound API". Let us know if that helps.

Re: 'Volume tab' in the 'Control property' is missing!

Newer versions of GoldWave use "Core Audio/WASAPI" by default and the "Volume" tab does not appear in that case. There is probably nothing wrong with your GoldWave install.

Re: WIN7 V5.66 cannot use Record in Selection Button

The "cannot start recording" error can occur if GoldWave is using WASAPI and the sampling rate of the file does not match a sampling rate that is supported by the sound card. Try this: - From the GoldWave menu, choose Options > Control Properties... F11 - On the "System" tab, choose "Use DirectSound...

Re: Bug in Resample Filter algorithm

You may want to use

to compare the "Passband" performance of Sampling Rate Converters (SRCs) used by various applications. If GoldWave does not meet your particular needs then perhaps some other piece of software will.

Re: How to zoom -in to selection?

Assume I loaded an MP3 track and selected a part of it. How can I zoom (visually) into the selected part? From the GoldWave menu you can choose View > Selection , or just press [Shift+S]. How can I (later) zoom out to the original full range? From the GoldWave menu you can choose View > All , or ju...
