Re: Possible error in bug report.

Conclusion: I shouldn't have singled out GoldWave. Solution: Switch to external recorders. A stand-alone recorder is often a better choice, and of course you can still edit/mix on a computer. But, many people including pro studios (and myself) do record successfully on computers. Computers are also...

Re: Convert Multi-Channel to Single Channel

There's more than one way to do it, but this will work - Edit -> Channel and un-check left. Hit the Del key (or Edit -> Delete, etc.) to delete the unwanted right channel. Edit -> Channel , check left and uncheck right Edit -> Copy (or click the Copy tool, etc.) Edit -> Channel , check right an unch...

Re: Removing unwanted sound from a file ripped from a casset

P.S. I am totally blind and use a screen reader with my computer and GoldWave. When you respond, would it be possible for you to send me instructions pertaining to using GoldWave with the keyboard? Sorry, but I only use GoldWave with the mouse or trackball. You can try Effect -> Filter -> Pop/Click...

Re: Dragonfly red USB DAC

You are recording, just having trouble with monitoring, right? When you open an existing audio file in GoldWave and play it, do you hear it through the DAC? If not, go to Options -> Control Properties -> Device and select it as the Playback Device. Sometimes you don't see the actual device name, so ...

Re: is there a way to know which tracks can be volume-maximi

You should be able to do it with Batch Processing, but I've never used Batch Processing so I can't help you. Or, you should be able to write a script for SoX but again I can't help. If you use another application note that what GoldWave calls "Maximize", everybody else calls it "Normalize". You don'...

It might be better to use a non-priority format but you can contact Chris (GoldWave's Developer) via this form.

Re: What is the XAC format?

Google found it!!!

XAC is an internal format GoldWave uses to store uncompressed audio larger than 4GB. It may be phased out in future updates in favour of more standardized formats such as RF64.

Re: Prevent export of artwork when saving MP3 from loaded vi

I don't know if you can disable that feature but with File -> Information you can delete the artwork.

...Realistically, with what you're doing you'll probably be editing the metadata anyway.

Re: How to shrink (denoise) this short *.mp3 file?

~8MB of imbedded artwork. ;) Although it is only 26 (!) seconds long and has only a bitrate of 128kbits As you may know there are 8 bits in a byte so 128 kilo bits per second = 16 kilo bytes per second. 16 kilo bytes per second x 26 seconds = 416kB. Maybe I have to de-noise the recoding from artifa...

Re: Is Anyone Having Problems with Goldwave on Windows 10

I've got GoldWave on 4 Windows 10 computers. No problems... Weird... WAV files are usually pretty foolproof. It's just a short header followed by bytes of audio data. And I assume WAV file handling (reading the header to get the sample rate & bit-depth, etc.) is done with Microsoft-supplied DLLs, so...

Re: Telefone system export

All A-Law do not deliver the desired result. Why do you think it's not working? Maybe there's something "funny" with your phone system? I don't have a phone system to test it but it seems to work for me. I chose attributes of "A-Law, 8000Hz, 64kbps." The file size is correct for 64kbps (8 kHz x 8 b...

You might be able to do something with Cue Points. Edit -> Cue Point -> Add And Edit Cue Point opens a window where you can type-in the time.

This is the GoldWave forum, not the VidoeMeld forum... And, I'm not a VideoMeld user but I just downloaded the trial version.

To render a video file File -> Meld Project To Video File.

Re: Unable to record through sound card!

Sorry, that's confusing... Are you trying to record streaming audio? What you're hearing out of the soundcard? Or, are you trying to record "normally" through the soundcard with a microphone or something analog plugged into line-in (if your computer has line-in)? To record streaming audio in Win10 s...
