Re: Panning/positioning mono audio?
Right... Create a new stereo track and copy the mono into it.

Re: opening 4+ files at same time = 4th+ sounds muffled
the 4th file plus and files I open after the 4th file sounds muddy/muffled, with the first I've never had that problem. I'm using the current version but I have used GoldWave for a long time so I'm sure I used 5.16 at some point. And to me that's "unexplainable". Muddy or muffled ...

Re: Left & Right Channel Volumes Change After Save
I can't duplicate that -
I loaded a file and then ran Tool -> Amplitude Statistics and I wrote-down the Peak & LUFS levels for both channels.
I saved the file as WAV, (in a different folder).
I opened the new file. It looks the same and the Amplitude Statistics are exactly the same.

Re: MP4 issue after upgrading to 6.65
That's not "the same issue". There is a link to 5.70 at the bottom of this page and a quick-search found this this 3rd-party site with more older versions, but I don't know if it's legit. There is also a Contact Form where you can contact GoldWave directly and they will email you back.

Re: MP4 issue after upgrading to 6.65
I assume the problem is when opening the file? As a work-around you can convert the file to WAV with Kabuu Audio Converter or TAudioConverter . GoldWave (or any "regular" audio editor) is going to decompress the file anyway, so although it's an extra step for you it's not actually an extra...

Re: Why does Auto Gain change tracks' bitrate?
Hmmm.... It works for me... I wonder what we're doing differently... I'm using version 6.60. I used Save-As and I just made a 96Kbps file, a 320kbps file, and a VBR 0 file. I used "Custom" for VBR and LAME presets for the others. Then I checked the files with MediaInfo and the files are di...

Re: Why does Auto Gain change tracks' bitrate?
When you open a compressed file in GoldWave (or any "regular" audio editor) it gets decompressed. When you save it makes an entirely new file and you can choose the format and attributes (bitrate, etc.). Note that multiple-generations of lossy compression some "damage" accumulate...

Re: Volume Drops AC-3 Audio Decompression
There is (optional) metadata in the AC-3 file called Dialnorm (dialog normalization). It's similar to ReplayGain in-that it adjusts the volume at playback-time but it serves a different purpose than ReplayGain. I don't know if it normally boosts or reduces the volume but somehow that data is either ...

Re: M4A - no encoder or decoder available?
This is from the FAQ and it's kind-of confusing: Does GoldWave support mp4, m4a, mov, or aac files? Support for these file types depends on the version of Windows you have and the encoding contained in the file. All these file types should open in GoldWave v6 on Windows 10. You may need to use File ...

Re: Normalising 2000 tracks
"Regular normalization" is NOT what you want... Regular normalization (GoldWave calls it "Maximizing") boosts the peaks to the "digital maximum" of 0dB. But the peaks don't correlate well with perceived loudness. Plus, most commercial releases are already normalized. Yo...

Re: Recorded file disappeared
I've never had that happen but it's a good idea to save immediately after recording. And you might want to keep the original as a back-up and then save your edits under a different name or in a different folder. If you're eventually making MP3s or another lossy format, save your temporary work as WA...

Re: System exception when ripping CD to FLAC
That's weird, but since CDs are 16-bits there's no point in making 24-bit FLACs. (FLAC is "smart" so the 24-bit file shouldn't be any larger.) ...I normally use EAC or CUERipper because they support AccurateRip. AccurateRip compares your data to an online database and you get a match (or h...

Re: Goldwave cannot open any file
Weird... Although GoldWave doesn't support as many formats as some other audio applications it's been around for a long-long-time and it's a very mature and stable program. You have an unusual problem. This is mostly a user-to-user forum and we don't see official replies from GoldWave everyday here....
