Re: Accessing the Manual from the Help Menu

The right-click menu is still on the To Do list. What would your ideal right-click menu look like? Off topic, obviously, but you asked, so as a simple solution this is a context menu from an inferior "competitor" (I first learned using this application, so I began to take it's menu natura...

Re: Accessing the Manual from the Help Menu

...when I read it the first time I knew what was trying to be said. It didn't dawn on me to point them out. And yet you took the time to notice they're still extant? :) We've all used software designed/maintained in "foreign parts" where, thankfully, English isn't the common tongue - just...

Re: v5.54 and metadata

For what it's worth, most (not tested all) metadata in MP3's (including artwork) does work. Thanks Chris.

Re: Accessing the Manual from the Help Menu

Not to be too pedantic, but two small textual errors in the new 5.53 manual... 1. Under 'Volume - Auto Gain' the sixth paragraph contains another repeated word: "the the". 2. Under 'Command Line Parameters - Outfolder' the word 'preserved' is misspelled 'preseved'. Anoraks are not just for...

Re: sound levels

As long as it's 16-bit signed at whatever sample rate...VD should be able to work with it just fine...VD SHOULD be able to handle a mp3 file if you've followed the steps correctly. Ok, it should have been noted that I was using the x64 version of VD, and I'm experienced enough to know one should re...

Re: sound levels

The splitting of audio and video streams is technically a lossless operation. You can split audio and video from an AVI in to seperate streams and recombine them with no loss of quality...it doesn't have to recompress the video or audio if the streams are already compressed. No doubt my brain is fu...

Re: MP3 Tags

The manual states that GoldWave supports "text information" and the File | Information section has a warning that additional information is not preserved. Fair enough, but what's an extra malloc() or two between friends? It's not that I didn't know about it (cerebrally, at least), it's ju...

Re: MP3 Tags

...It is not something you'd want to rely on to tag your albums. Indeed, particularly as (with pre-tagged/regrettably-post-edited MP3's) GW has a bad habit of discarding any embedded image data. I can understand not being able to add it (after all, GW never claims to be a tagging tool), but one wou...

I don't know about others, but American dictionaries tend to document word usage and trends over time. Not my intention to flame sensitivities... we could end up with an endless off-topic rabble of semantic sword-fights; let's just say "trends" in usage are less important/interesting than...

If you could point them out, I'd appreciate it. Nothing major (bear in mind I merely said "anomalies"), and not to be anal about these things, but the essence/image of professionalism speaks to the devil in the details, so every little bit counts. 1. Under 'Recording', 'Feb r uary' is mis...

Yeah, I've grown used to using that, as well as copious hits of the 'H' key. Convenient. Your idea of a "custom right-click" was a bit more ambitious than I had in mind (I'd be happy with simple cut/paste and maybe a link to the Effects menu), but customising certainly would be infinitely ...

I'm sure if you dig enough...SAS is affilated with KIS in some way shape or form. there's no technical reason these apps need to be removed. Life being an amalgam of seven-degrees of separation and a healthy dose of paranoia aside, programme incompatibilities are a reality - and not just in the sec...
