Re: tagging MP3s
GoldWave recompress the file when you save it, so some loss of quality is possible. If all you want to change is the file information, then it would be best to use a dedicated tag/metadata editor instead.

Re: Save mp3 with variable bitrate?
In the latest version of GoldWave (v5.08) when you select the "MPEG Audio" file type, the "Attributes" label becomes a link. You can click on that link to enable and set variable bitrate for MP3 encoding. File types like Ogg Vorbis and FLAC use variable bitrate encoding automatic...

Re: Goldwave stutters when plaing back audio
In GoldWave, press the F11 key, choose the Device tab, and check the "High latency..." option or change the playback device to see if that solves the problem.

Re: Low Volume Distortion. HELP PLEASE!!!
It is best to filter pops and clicks before performing noise reduction. With low volume music, your ears become much more sensitive to even slight distortions in the music. While the pop/click filter can eliminate the sharp snapping sound, the wider distortion of a pop is not so easily filtered. Usi...

Re: Coming to grips with ID3 tags etc
Click here for the ID3 tag specification.
ID3 tags are used for MP3 files. Wave, Ogg, AIFF, WMA all use different ways of storing metadata. To add or edit the information with GoldWave, use the File | Information command.

You may need commercial software to do that. Some possibilities can be found by searching on Google.

Re: Can only record for a few seconds, sometimes nothing at
Make sure the device is plugged directly into the computer rather than into a USB hub (or a monitor hub) or try using a different USB port. Also make sure you have all the latest Windows Updates installed. If all else fails, check with Numark technical support.

Re: Sound too loud when mouth too close to mic
If you zoom in 1:1 on the waveform and look at the highest peaks, you may see a lot of flat tops where the audio level was too loud to record properly. If that is the case, then re-recording is the best solution. Otherwise if the peaks look normal, you can use the Effect | Volume | Shape command to ...

Re: Start Goldwave recording
You can use the command line options "-new" and "-record", so the shortcut would like something like this: "C:\Program Files\GoldWave\GoldWave.exe" -new -record The quotes are needed around the program pathname. That will run GoldWave, create a new file using the curren...
