But usually, the sound changed hasn't a tempo (a car, a train...), so it cannot be noticed easily. I suggeste...

In the case where Goldwave doesn't open an mp3, I convert to WAV with another software (iTunes, Audacity...). It might be due to some non-standard header infos.

There is no virus in GOldwave if you downloaded it from Goldwave Inc.'s page. Several false positive have been reported. «downloader. GENERIC 7.akoa» looks like a heuristic detection, it detcted something that eventually should be a malicious code. It is trendy to get some paranoïd heuristic detecti...

Get two windows of the same sound in the same instance of Goldwave, saved as "stereo" (two identical channels right and left) On one of them, select only the right or the left (at your choice) and invert it. Copy to clipboard the file (both channels) and go to the other copy. Mix, wit a ti...

Godwave has indeed already reported to work under Wine, but there is no warranty from Goldwave Inc, it isn't designed for Linux, only for Windows.

About balance only (I don't know how it works for synch tracks recording).
There is a panning shape (ctrl+p) in Multiquence, otherwise for a real balance you might do a modified track in Goldwave.
