Re: Goldwave cannot open any file
Are you saying you can't open a WAV or an MP3?

Re: record starts with no sound
There is an option for sound activated ("Level activated") recording, but it's often more trouble than it's worth -
Options -> Control Properties -> Record -> Level activated

Re: record starts with no sound
Does it work if you start the playback first? WASAPI loopback doesn't work if there is no audio stream... It can be a silent stream but there has to be "data flowing".this is happening before any sound is heard.

Re: record starts with no sound
What are you trying to record from? (The microphone built-into your laptop? A USB turntable? Streaming audio? Etc.?)
(Go to Options -> Control Properties -> Device to select your recording device.)

Re: Adding fade in and out to a batch of MP3s?
In general, you need to select the audio that you want to "process". When you 1st open a file the whole thing is selected and that's fine if you want to boost the bass on the whole file, etc., but if you apply a fade-in the whole thing will slowly fade-in from the beginning to the end. Zoo...

Re: how to open a aac file in goldwave ?
Did you try converting to WAW with Kabuu Audio Converter? VLC can also convert. Choose Media -> Convert/Save. At the bottom of that window there is another Convert/Save box and after clicking that another Window will pop-up allowing you to choose the format. There aren't a lot of audio options but ...

Re: how to open a aac file in goldwave ?
I can open that file* and I didn't have to rename it, so it probably depends on what CODECs you have installed on your computer. I'm on Windows 10 and using GoldWave 6.57 and I've got several audio/video tools so I'm not sure which one made it work. I was also able to convert it to WAV with Kabuu Au...

Re: how to open a aac file in goldwave ?
Try changing the file name extension to M4A which is essentially the same as AAC if not exactly the same. If that doesn't work try converting the file to WAV with Kabuu Audio Converter or other conversion program. Decompressing to WAV (uncompressed PCM) is similar to what GoldWave does when you open...

Re: Level volume in tracks
I'm trying to batch level the volume of 428 tracks. So, if you want to adjust the level of each track separately look into ReplayGain or WAVgain, or Sound Check With Apple applications. ReplayGain and Sound Check are player features so your player has to support it. The file is pre-scanned and then...

Re: Level volume in tracks
Are you trying to even-out the volume of a recording, or are you trying to match the volume of multiple tracks? Auto-Gain or "automatic gain control" (AGC) or "automatic volume control (AVC) tries to even-out the loud parts and quiet parts of a recording and it usually doesn't work ve...

Re: GoldWave on RDSH
There is a Contact Form where you can contact GoldWave directly.
You should probably let him know if there will be multiple users. I assume there won't be any licensing issues if only one person at a time is using GoldWave but I don't know if/how the software key will work in this setup.

Re: how to find the high volume level in the graph ?
If you set the compressor threshold to -3dB then nothing below -3dB will be touched. But you may have to compromise between the threshold and the multiplier. Or you might try Audacity (free). Audacity's limiter has a hard-limit setting and it has look-ahead so it can limit to -3dB (or -2dB, etc.) wi...

Re: how to find the high volume level in the graph ?
I think what you really want is compression/limiting. Effect -> Compressor/Expander . There are presets for Reduce Peaks and Reduce Loud Parts. After reducing the peaks you can Maximize again. Dynamic compression (unrelated to file compression like MP3) reduces the dynamic range (AKA "dynamic c...

Re: Saving the artist's name in information while using CD Reader tool
I usually start with the automatic online database (if the disc is in the database). Then when I'm done and I have my MP3s (or whatever finished file/format) I use MP3Tag to edit the tags as necessary. (It works with most audio formats, not just MP3.) You can a select whole folder (i.e an album) and...
