Re: using the pop and click option

Have you read the relevant part of the GW manual? Pop/Click A pop/click filter is a specially designed filter that searches for abrupt changes in the sound and eliminates them. Such a filter is often used to remove pops and clicks caused by dust and scratches when recording old vinyl records. The To...

FWIW, that's what I suspected was the problem.

Re: Recording 78 rpm records at 33 or 45 rpm

>There is no real reason one needs to inverse before speed warp >just to reapply it again. I can't see the logic. Those additional steps make sense, at least in theory. If RIAA-like recording EQ was applied to the original recording it was presumably applied at normal speed. Playing back at a lower ...

Re: Mixing left and right channel

I'm still something of a newbie myself, but I'll weigh in anyway. I can understand why a straight mono mix would result in varying volume levels. If you send 50% of each channel to both channels then the sections where there is nothing on the right channel will end up at approximately 50% volume (of...

Re: NEED TO SAVE IN 16Khz HELP

If you are recording in GoldWave then you can specify the sampling rate when you create the new file. If you are working with an existing file that was recorded at another sampling rate then you can use Effect > Resample... to change it. Then, you can use File > Save As... and choose the appropriate...

compare an effect preview with the original sound

I think it would be handy to have the ability to easily compare the original sound with the sound preview in the effect dialogs. Maybe something like having [F4] preview the effect (as it does now) and [Shift-F4] play the unaltered sound. That way it would be easy to hear the difference and tweak th...

The "Match Volume" effect does that. See the GoldWave manual or help file for more information.

Re: Auto-trim and auto levelling?

The brighter part is the selected section. The dimmer area is the part that is not selected.

Glad to hear you got it working.

Re: Auto-trim and auto levelling?

Did you make sure that you had the entire file selected [Ctrl-A] before doing MaxMatch? If only a portion of the file is selected then the effect will only be applied to the selected part. If you did, then select the entire file (once more, just to be sure), choose Effect > Volume > Match Volume... ...

Re: Auto-trim and auto levelling?

Trimming dead spaces would be

Effect > Filter > Silence Reduction...

Boosting the right channel can be done with

Effect > Stereo > MaxMatch

Both "Silence Reduction" and "MaxMatch" are available effects in Batch Processing if you want to use them that way.

Re: Batch Volume

Yes. If you select the "Process" tab of the Batch Processing dialog and then click the "Add Effect..." button you can select one of several Volume effects. "Maximize Volume" would be a logical choice -- it will make each file as loud as possible without causing distorti...

Re: fuzzy sound

Or we could require that any political commentary be posted as an audio file. Then each of us could open them in GW and listen to them, and if we disagree with their point of view we could play with all kinds of effects to make them sound really ridiculous.... :)
