Re: How best to remove 'cough' from recording

Okay... you said during a quiet portion of the song. You are in a large room that has it's own ambient noise, or "room tone". Set you start and stop markers at the beginning and end of the cough you wish to remove. Now that you know the precise amount of time, find another quiet spot in wh...

Re: How to restore carelessly deleted track - reloaded

This is what happens if we make changes in the original and either lose it, or save it and then decide we'd like to undo the changes... but that is not possible. 1) Record Original. Save original. Copy original. Name and Save Original Recording... then put it away. 2) Paste the saved into a new wind...

Re: Over modulating at 5

I'm a big fan of "Minimalism" in recording. The "Less Is More" theory is often correct. The less stuff in the chain, the less chance of one of them being the weak link and all that kinda stuff. I rarely use my Presonus Eureka channel strip. Oooohhhh Man... that thing has all kind...

Re: Over modulating at 5

Gravy... It appears that you are using quality equipment, and I know that Goldwave is an outstanding recording software. I'm thinking it is probably a matter of finding some adjustments in your recording chain that give the results you are looking for. Let's start with Goldwave, because the computer...

Re: Gratitude for years of Goldwave use

Me Too -- I have had two or three other editing programs, and just let them fade away. Goldwave is intuitive, easy to learn and use. And the Free Updates For Life is a wonderful bonus.

Thanks Chris... Goldwave Is The Best, because You Are The Best!

Re: Is there a way to convert a file & convert playback spee

Rabbit - You already know how to change the speed to correct it, so the rest is easy: 1) DO NOT WORK WITH YOUR ORIGINAL FILE. 2) Make a copy, and put the original away. 3) Change the speed to what you know to be correct. 4) Name it and Save it. 5) Saving as MP3 will reduce file size and take up less...

Re: Does an SSD (Solid State Drive) improve performance of G

I had a solid state hard drive installed in my XP computer some years ago, and I really liked it a lot. There was certainly no loss of performance, and probably some improvement. I still use the machine from time to time because I have some applications that are licensed to that machine... And with ...

Re: Using an alternate sound card to pla sound from GoldWave

I don't know about the limitations you may have using Goldwave not having your sight. I can tell you that I used a Focusrite Saffire (Firewire) card for years with my older XP machine. With my newer Windows 8.1 machine, I am using a Presonus Audiobox USB external box and it is working like a dream.....

Re: Goldwave for Levelling audio

Auto Gain Works Very Well. It is possible that you might have to make some adjustments, but one of the presets will most likely work just fine.

Re: Optimise new pc spec for Goldwave

I'm using Goldwave 6.09 on a year old 64 bit HP desktop computer with a 3.4 Ghz I-7 processor and 16 gb of ram. It is a great setup--the best I've ever had. I had no problems of any kind with my onboard soundcard that I used for a while before I purchased and began using a Presonus USB Audiobox. I'v...

Re: GW 6.09 - play preview button

Chris - I've noticed the same thing. I have Windows 8, and Goldwave 6.09 (Love It now that I'm used to it). I used to be able to riffle through my production libraries and SFX quickly and easily... but not anymore. If I could get an earlier version of GW to load without any conflict, I'd be able to ...

Re: Hot to change interface back?

It took me a little while to get used to the new look. I was comfortable with the earlier version... and I don't particularly accept change well. But, I decided to abandon the old version entirely, instead of going back to it instead of adjusting to the new. As a result, I've become comfortable with...

Re: About creating audio loops ...

bflat -- Thanks for the kind words. I've had others ask me to remove some low level ambient noise from a track... and they were using one or other of the so called big time audio editing and processing programs. Then they seem surprised that I was able to do a nice and effective job of removing the ...

Re: About creating audio loops ...

I am so pleased with Goldwave that I would very certainly download Videomeld if I need multi tracking. Since most of what I do is simple straight voice, with occasional sfx or music bed, there is no such need. Someday, just for the heck of it, I might download it and learn how to use it. I have grea...
