Re: Match Volume vs. Max Volume
There aren't any "bass" or "treble" channels. The green channel on top is what you hear in your LEFT speaker and the red channel on bottom is what you hear in your RIGHT speaker. The bass and treble levels will pretty much be equal in both channels.

Re: Match Volume vs. Max Volume
Match volume changes the overall average volume of the entire file. Although the peak is right at 0 dB, the average volume (across the entire wave) for each channel is -21.50 and -23.58 dB. When you first open Match Volume, by default, it wants to change the average volume to -18dB. So what the red ...

Re: getting the high with goldwave
Lenny, I've been using GoldWave for 10 years now. I don't consider myself "professional" by any means. But amongst my peers, I'm well above the 50th percentile when it comes to editing and engineering digital audio. When I look back at the first year that I used GoldWave, I laugh at how li...

Re: Help Requested
I have these in-ear binaural microphones (if you're unfamiliar with binaural, it is 2-channel [like stereo] but it's not "standard" stereo; see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Binaural_recording for more info.) They record things nicely and they are small and convenient (they come in a small ...

Re: Help Requested
If you can fork out the extra cash, I say go with a stereo recording setup instead. Whether it's as a solo instrument or part of a multitrack, you'd be amazed at how much better a stereo piano recording sounds compared to a mono recording of the same. Here are a couple examples: mono stereo Everythi...

Re: to long gaps between songs
Writing a cue sheet is a little tricky, and it's best to start by copying & editing an existing cue sheet. And, the cue sheet has to be perfect... If you mis-type a filename or pathname, it's not going to find the file, and you can also get errors if you get the structure or syntax wrong. GoldW...

Re: trimming both front and back of a song
You probably will have to zoom in and manually select the part you want to delete. That's how I've always done it. At the beginning of a song, I usually leave about 0.3 to 0.5 sec. of silence. At the end of a song, I usually leave about 2.0 to 3.0 seconds of silence. Even though the audio file is pa...

Re: to long gaps between songs
> so this gap issue cant be fixed in goldwave Well if you experiencing 10 seconds of silence between songs, it's likely that most of that silence is in your original files (and not caused by your software.) So it can be remedied in GoldWave. It should be easy to tell. The "standard" 2-seco...

Re: recording problems
Would you mind making some clarifications? When you say you burned to CD, did you make an audio CD (that will play in any standalone CD player; i.e., 80 minutes of music) or did you burn the MP3s themselves to a data (or "jukebox") CD (to be played on your computer or MP3-compatible CD/DVD...

Re: out of sync
[See this thread .] Technically I think it's actually the preview that's out-of-sync (and not the final product.) For projects that I've done in Multiquence, in watching the preview, the video appears to be lagging behind the audio by a few milliseconds. But the final product is always in-sync. On t...

Re: Non-Destructive MP3 Trimming/Saving
I don't believe GoldWave can do what you're wanting. You might try mp3DirectCut ; it can trim MP3s without having to re-encode. I've used it a couple times when the only editing I've needed is to trim or change volume. Otherwise, if you do it in GoldWave, you'll have to save to a lossless format if ...

Re: fuzzy sound
If you're saving to MP3 and then editing the MP3 and then resaving the MP3 ad infinitum , you're needlessly introducing artifacts to each generation of your recording. Always do your editing with WAV (it's lossless, unlike MP3.) Once your recording is finalized and there's no more editing to do, the...

Automatic Double Tracking
I would guess that the flanger is the logical choice to create an "Automatic Double Tracking" effect. Since there is no "ADT" preset on the flanger, I'm left to experiment (which I honestly don't mind doing.) But if anyone here has any experience using the flanger for ADT, what s...

Re: neat little sound
Ahh...I see what you did. clever...and you saved it in 32-bit. Well I almost saved it to 16-bit without realizing your original was 32-bit (the clipped wave would have ruined your intended effect.) But just for the hell of it, I ran maximize just to check the level. Of course I discovered the huge ...

Re: neat little sound
That's pretty sweet!! DewDude, I hope you don't mind, but I took the liberty of making an "enhancement" to your sound. That is, I made it into a stereo file (the "anamorphic widescreen" equivalent, if you will.) I'm sure the thought passed your mind already, but due to individual...
