There is a recording volume control in GoldWave. Click Tool -> Control and a Control Window will pop-up. The top slider is volume. There are also two little left and right "level meter" windows in the control window. The default meter-view settings are a little screwy... Right-click them t...

It could be several things... It may be that the analog sound level is simply too low for the soundcard's A/D converter. (i.e. you're only using about 8 of the 16 bits.) Although, I would sort-of expect this to show-up in the headphones too. :? Maybe the Skype software is adjusting the levels, but t...

WARNING - I don't know anything about VCDs... But, DVDs and most video formats have the video and audio multiplexed (interwoven) together in one file. I assume that VCD is the same... You probably need to de-multiplex the audio into a separate file before opening it with an audio editor. Ner...

From the help file - Editing Overview Almost all commands in GoldWave operate on the currently selected part of a sound. The selected part, or selection, is the highlighted part of the sound graph between two vertical markers. The vertical markers are cyan lines located at the far left side (start m...

Nope! :P From the User Manual: Invert Reflects the selection about the x (time) axis, turning the waveform upside-down. This produces no noticeable effect in mono sounds and has a slight effect in stereo sounds. Inverting a single channel of a stereo sound will produce a simulated surround-sound ef...

First, read-through the help file. It's not too long, so you can read-through the whole thing. But, there is a lot you can do with an audio editor and it's probably a lot different than other programs you've used. There are buttons for mix, crossfade, fade-out fade-in, and the help file should expla...

GoldWave is for audio only. You can use GoldWave to record, edit, and enhance your "soundtrack". Once you have a sound file, you can add it to your video file with any video editor. I don't have Multiquence , but I assume it would do the trick. I do own Video Studio and MPEG Video Wizard ....

Actually, that information is in the FAQ [/b] . :P In the USA, it is generally OK to make personal non-commercial audio & video recordings or copies. As long you don't post them on the Internet, or sell them, you should be OK. However, under the DMCA (Digital Millennium Copyright Act) the tools ...

If there are not too many of these "skips", it they should be easy to fix. But, I doubt that you can fix them automatically. So, if there are lots of them, it's going to take some time... In any case, since the program material is very noise-like, I would expect excellent results! A few th...

Your aa file may have copy protection, or some sort of DRM (Digital Rights Management). In that case, you might not be able to copy it to another format. You might try searching the Internet for ".aa to MP3" or ".aa to WAV". If you can get the file into WAV format, you can conver...

I take it that the extracted MP3 plays normally in Windows Media Player (or your other regular MP3 player)? There is probably something non-compliant about the extracted MP3. Is audio in the AVI MP3 format? Some MPEG-2 files use MPEG-2 audio. Can you extract it as a WAV file? Maybe you need to try s...

Maybe look for another tool to extract the audio from the A/V file. I Googled "MKV to WAV" and I got some interesting hits. I has a similar problem to yours (with an easier fix) when I used VOBedit to extract LPCM from a VOB file. In that case, the audio data was OK, but there was somethin...

iTunes? If these are downloaded iTunes, they are DRM protected. I think you can burn a regular audio CD from iTunes. Once it's on an audio CD, there's no more copy protection.

There is an auto gain effect included with the optional GWVoice plug-in ($15.00 USD). Of course, you can try it out free. You could also play-around with EFFECT->COMPRESSION . Compression makes the quiet parts louder and / or the loud parts quieter. TV and radio commercials are compressed to make ev...
