You can always make an analog (digital-to-analog-to-digital) recording with the What-U-Hear method. I have a video editing program called Ulead Video Studio ($100 after 30-day trial). It can extract the audio from an A/V file (to a WAV file, etc). However, Video Studio will balk if you feed it a com...

Goldwave probably isn't going to help... An audio editor (GoldWave) can do things like boost the high-frequencies, or reduce the background noise (if it's not too bad), but it cannot eliminate severe distortion. I'll make a guess... Did you plug the mini-cassette's headphone output to the voice reco...

I use a program called Wave Repair [/url] ($30). I allows you to replace a tick or pop with the previous few-milliseconds, or with a the surrounding "FFT" spectrum, etc. It works incredibly well on most ticks & pops. I usually select one "full cycle" containing the defect (S...

if so, can i isolate them and manipulate them as well? If you have a piano and a guitar playing together.... NO, you can't un-mix them. There is no software that can do that... You can't "un-bake the cake." :) ) Of course, you can process the left and right channels independently. And, Go...

Hook-up your cassette palyer's line-out to your soundcard's LINE-IN or AUX input. Double-click the Windows Volume Control to bring-up the mixer. Go to OPTIONS, select RECORD, and make sure that the LINE-IN or AUX is selected. In GoldWave, Click NEW to create a new blank file. You can set the sample ...

FYI - Both WAV files and the CD audio format use PCM "encoding". Any CD burning program should be able to use a WAV file, but you won't find .WAV files on audio CDs. I assume that a Mac will open and/or play a WAV file... I think an AIFF file is also PCM "data" in a different pa...

What is the format for a Blackberry ringtone? If it can play an MP3 or wma as a ringtone, then GoldWave can help. GoldWave is basically a WAV file editor. It doesn't "create" sounds, but you can edit (modify) sounds. Depending on what codecs you have on your computer (some are standard wit...

In the analog world... Yeah. I'm sure that the Denon has a much better analog-to-digital converter than the average PC... maybe better than most "good" soundcards. I don't know the specs on the Denon, but you'd probably need to get a soundcard especially made for analog recording to match...

I've been using GoldWave so long, that I can't really say how easy it is for a new user. :? But, the members are helpful, and you can get direct support from GoldWave too. GoldWave will cut-and-splice... and so will any other audio editor. You may have to fade-in and fade-out the beginning and end o...

I can answer one of your questions...
Do I need to anticipate duration of a new recording? (If not, why do I need to enter a value at all?)
Options -> Control Properties -> Record -> Record Mode -> Unbounded

Let's get technical... Why 8-bits will NEVER sound good - :( A digitized wave is not smooth... it's a series of stair-steps. With 8-bits, you can have a maximum of 256 steps including step-zero (11111111 binary = 255 decimal). A full-power (0dB) wave won't sound that bad... but speech and music are...

I don't get it... :? I think EAC would report any copy-protection as an error. Here's a list of copy-protected CDs . I don't know if the list is complete or up to date, but John Mayer isn't on it. From what I've read, some copy-protected CDs have an indication on the packaging that they are protecte...
