As Alice in Wonderland said, "This gets curiouser and curiouser." As usual, in DirectSound mode everything works okay. In WASAPI mode the HDMI output experiences variable delay both with the regular selection play button and with the TEST button (the tone is sometimes full-length and sometimes clipped). The RealTek speakers in WASAPI mode work in 16-bit mode but put out noise in 24-bit mode (I had them set to 24-bit for my previous test and hadn't tried them at 16-bit). The HDMI works at both bit rates in WASAPI mode but with the strange delay in both cases. The old RealTek driver worked at both bit rates, too. Again, the new RealTek driver works okay at both bit rates in Direct Sound mode as does the HDMI driver. I tried 32-bit in WASAPI mode with the RealTek driver and it didn't like that at all, but I really didn't expect it would. However, 32-bit mode works in WASAPI mode with the HDMI driver (although again with the goofy delay) and for both drivers in Direct Sound mode. As Charlie Brown would say, "Aggggh!"

Because there is no similar reports have come to what kind of information you get when you press F11, select "System" tab, then select "Information" button?

I just installed Beta 5.64 to make sure I had all the latest fixes.

The Playback device is set to AMD High Definition Output (AMD High Definition Audio Device) (04E5) with a Latency of 1.00 and quality set to IEEE 32 bit. Alternative initialization is NOT checked. On the System tab I've selected "Use Core Audio/WASAPI". Here is the data from the Information tab.

When I begin playback with the entire song highlighted, there is usually about a 0.60 second delay (using the 1 second display) before I hear any sound. I keep hitting the play button and, while the cursor jumps back to the beginning, the audio is delayed again for about .60 seconds. Occasionally, audio output starts immediately and occasionally the delay is longer than .60 seconds. This is a single song, not a long, full-side recording, and it's a stereo recording (I recorded it from an LP and now i'm merely reloading the MP3 saved recording although that doesn't seem to be a problem). The problem isn't an issue except when I'm splitting an LP or cassette tape into individual songs for eventual burning to a CD. Also, the old mode, "Use DirectSound API" works perfectly. My concern is about when that mode goes away in a future release of Goldwave. Editing (I like to mute the separator sections so there's no noise between selections) is much more difficult in the new mode when I want to trim those separators all to the same length.

I didn't try all the variations with this Beta--just the two I mentioned. However, if you'd like me to try others I'll gladly do it.

jamjr99,
What sampling rate are you using? Are you using Shared playback quality? If so, what rate is shown? Try using the same sampling rate as the shared rate for everything.
