Several of the FFT related effects use multiple processors (Pitch, Time Warp, Noise Reduction, Spectrum Filter). Also GoldWave uses multithreading for playing, recording, and drawing waveforms. Loading and saving times are limited by the hard drive and encoder/decoder speed. Many audio effects cannot be parallelized efficiently because of their sequential algorithms.

Re: feature requests
Standalone Batch Processing. I use this often, and even though opening GoldWave to access Batch Processing is only one click (or 2) of the mouse, I think it would be cool if you could just open the Batch Processing window without opening GoldWave. I don't know if it's possible, if Batch Processing requires GoldWave to be open to work. The same with the CD Reader (CDX), the ability to open that without opening GoldWave. It would be like 3 programs in 1. I didn't realize GoldWave had the Batch Processing feature until I was looking to convert some MP3's to M4a. Anyway, I think it would be cool!
Re: feature requests
An option to keep the Control windows always on top of other apps.
Even when the main window of Goldwave is minimized.
