File size revisited

Post by azkik »

I used windows movie maker to receive a avi file off my camcorder with a fire wire. It is a 153 MB file and works great. I save in multiquence in uncompressed and it is over a gig and wont play well because the pc cant keep up. Any of the compression codecs degrades the video. Is there any way to find out what codec was used on a current file. I could start all over with wvm files if they work better.

An uncompressed video file will be huge. Depending on the version of Windows you are using, you may be able to save using the DV Video Encoder, which should be the same quality as the camcorder (unless that uses MPEG 4).

Also make sure you set a high enough resolution when saving (720x480 for DV).

Saving in WMV format should give better quality, provided you set a high enough bitrate or quality percent.
