Thank you very much! This is exactly what I was looking for.
I wished I could have found that info myself long ago, because it's really not intuitive. After all, it's labeled Album, not Artist /Album...

Re: Saving the artist's name in information while using CD Reader tool
I think you missed the point where I specify being online isn't really a good option, and not wanting to use the whole database... I'm asking about the Goldwave software capabilities here, since it's their own forum. Not other software. Also, I'm not saving as MP3. But I didn't specify that, as the ...

Saving the artist's name in information while using CD Reader tool (SOLVED)
Hello, Something that's been bugging me for a long time is that I can't enter the artist's name as an information while saving music via the CD Reader tool. There's a general field only for ALBUM, YEAR & GENRE, while the title tracks can be named individually in the list below. I don't want to u...

Re: id3 track field is erased for WAV format
Any file can get corrupted... That's what back ups are for! You're not really presenting any solid argument here. I've been using WAV files for 20+ years, and I don't see any need to change that after reading your post. Good for you if FLAC is your thing, but don't push it onto others without better...

Re: Goldwave Files resets Creation Date on Saving
I've used different drives in the past, and there never was a new file created when I simply saved them directly. Otherwise, I'd have a ginormous amount of files in extra, and I'd have noticed it long before!

Re: Goldwave Files resets Creation Date on Saving
When you save a file, you are not saving over the original directly. A new file is created to preserve the original in case an error occurs or the user cancels saving. GoldWave has always worked that way, so it is curious that you are noticing it only now. What? I'm sorry, but I beg to diff...

Re: Goldwave Files resets Creation Date on Saving
I'm afraid I can't help you more...
Does it happen to many type of files? Try it with a WAV and with a MP3 to see if there's a difference. That info might help others...

Which option did you use? "Save" or "Save as"?

Re: Silence in audio file
Do you mean the silence is inserted automatically each time you save a file? If you edit and save the same file over and over, does the silence parts get bigger?

Re: id3 track field is erased for WAV format
That why you should always check and double check your saved file & back up before putting it safely away! Working with paper archives & art made me nervous about any loss of the original support, most of all if it's for a "more efficient" digital one as stated by the powers that b...

Re: id3 track field is erased for WAV format
You shouldn't be storing raw audio in WAV format for long-term. Why not? It's lossless, uncompressed, offers cd quality, and can be read by anything easily. I've been doing this for more than 15 years, starting while badly compressed MP3 ruled the dial-in internet... Sure, the metadata thing is a m...
