Re: Can Expression Evaluator do Ring Modulation?

You can only load one file into the expression evaluator so the other is generated. (Or both can be generated.)

Re: Can Expression Evaluator do Ring Modulation?

I've only used the canned expressions but a little quick research tells me a ring modulator is amplitude modulation... If you look under Presets -> Effects , there is amplitude modulation. With the preset the 1st wave is pre-existing so you have to specify a file (you can generate & save it ) or...

Re: free version

But the free version is still working, even though I downloaded it from the official website, is it legal? Yes. it's legal and fully functional. You can keep using the trial/evaluation version as long as it works. It's not time-limited but there is a (unknown?) number of edits/operations before the...

Re: free version

No. It will stop working.

I've had the regular lifetime license for about 20 years with lots of free upgrades so the per-year cost has almost been zero!

Re: Merging audio files of live perforances

I've edited several rock concerts* where there is applause/crowd noise between songs and wherever I join/splice I ALWAYS use a crossfade. (I'm usually starting with a full-length concert so I don't always edit between tracks. Only if there is a long gap between songs or "excess" talking, e...

Re: VST Plugin Not Displaying Correctly

I've used Wave Repair ($30 USD) for a long time. It's manual so it only "touches" the audio where you identify a defect and it offers a few different repair methods so you can choose the best one. The downside is that it can take an hour to clean-up one song! Wave Corrector is FREE and aut...

Re: How to convert from mono to stereo

A true mono file will play through both speakers. So try saving-as MP9 mono . But it will average both channels so if one side is silent it will won't be a full volume. T he Multi-Channel Mixer Effect allows you to mix the left & right (or more if you have multiple channels) and you will allow y...

Re: How to make music sound really cheesy '8 bit' like

Like anything else it's easer to damage audio quality than to improve it! But I'm not sure if you'll get the kind of damage you want. You can save-as 8-bit WAV (by changing the attributes when you save). You can also use Effect -> Resample to change the sample rate to 8KHz. That will mostly reduce t...

Re: Example of 50 db sound to set levels with

If I can generate a sound with Goldwave, my problem is solved, but I don't see how. Can I do that? Yes, the Expression Evaluator can generate (or modify) sound FILES which you can then play a moment later or save and play in Windows Media Player, etc. Most of the presets (including generating a sin...

Re: Example of 50 db sound to set levels with

It looks like the Play Test with a 1000Hz tone is 0dB (100%). That's the peak. The LUFS loudness will be a little lower. With normal program material (voice or music) you can get peaks of 0dB but it won't be as "loud" because with program material the average is much lower than the peak. Y...

Re: Example of 50 db sound to set levels with

Is there an example of a sound with a set level of decibels so I could theoretically match it? You can check the loudness of a file with Tools -> Amplitude Statistics. The LUFS level represents the perceived loudness based on an international standard algorithm that uses a short-term average and ta...

Re: Noise reduction of a mono 78 record that has been digitized in stereo

I subtracted channels using Stereo/Remove vocals and got a file with noise spikes and very little original content (what I was hoping for). That's one of those things that seems like it should work but it doesn't... No matter how much you play around with simultaneous equations you end-up with four...

Re: Save current audio as *.AAC not possible?

As a work-around you can save-as FLAC or WAV and then convert to M4A/MP4/AAC with Kabuu Audio Converter or TAudioConverter . Or, if you are going to re-combine the audio & video most video editors can convert from FLAC or WAV. AAC isn't built-into GoldWave but there MIGHT be a way to make it wor...

Re: WAV - large file

WAV files are limited to 4GB due to a 32-bit "file-size" field in the file header. (With 32-bits you can "count to" 4GB.) The easiest solution is to save-as FLAC which doesn't have an artificial limit (most other formats don't), plus the file will be smaller. W64 and RF64 are si...
