Re: ia sample rate question related to audio card (internal)

You'll have to wait until I get home for a screenshot. Somewhere on the list is a dropdown box that probablt days "shared" next to quality. There are additional options like 24-bit there.

Re: ia sample rate question related to audio card (internal)

Go in to device properties in Goldwave. Make sure its set to WASAPI/Core Audio (it may be pulseaudio...Im at work and on my phone). Under the quality drop down..pick something besides Shared mode.

DirectSound is always shared mode since its emulated in Win 7 and 10.

Re: What Keyboards do you Use?

I have somr Logitech wireless keyboard that came with a nice wireless mouse.

Noise from it doesn't bother me because I either use headphones with a high level of isolation. I mostly use speakers on my desk, so I just turn the volume up.

Re: ia sample rate question related to audio card (internal)

Unless you're using ASIO or a WASAPI exclusive mode Windows resamples the audio to a default rate you set in device properties for your sound card. Goldwave defaults to WASAPI Shared mode. The sound card will only support a maximum sample rate and no more. Without resampling, playback will fail if t...

Re: is there a way to select a cue part by keyboard or 1clic

Hahahaha! There ya go.

That sounds like much how I learned Goldwave 20 years ago. Just click things and see what happens.

Of course I was also learning the finer points of editing at the same time by just doing stuff and see what happened.

Re: Trouble getting Goldwave to Record from Focusrite 18i8

Unless there's a seperate utility that will let you configure two inputs for stereo; you'll likely need a full-fledged multi-track capable of recording from two devices simultaneously. Devices like that can be tricky to get working as stereo since they're not designed as such. You literally have 4 m...

Re: Keyboard Sounds

I just installed Windows 10 a couple of weeks ago and I haven't had time to change any of the default sound schemes. I have not heard any kind of copy/paste sound from Windows at all. So Windows is not generating it. This doesn't leave out other programs in the operating system that might be doing t...

Re: is there a way to select a cue part by keyboard or 1clic

You can right-click in the window and select "set start" and "set finish" markers; but that's still technically 4 clicks and you probably knew that. The way I would do it is have Goldwave split the thing in to individual tracks using the CUE file and then recombine them later usi...

Re: recording a dvd audio track

SmartRipper will extract the indvidual streams from a VOB on a DVD....somehow. From a research perspective: I've been buying Weird Al on HDTracks. I happen to have a copy of Straight Out of Lynwood on DualDisc. I wanted to compare the editions. I used SmartRipper to extract the LPCM tracks from the ...

Re: remove room acoustic echo from a recorded live theatre e

The process of removing this kind of echo is called "deconvolution". It's the opposite of convolution, which is a process of creating echo using an "impulse response". Basically you set up microphones in a room and create a sharp impulse....like a clapper or baloon pop. You then ...

Re: how to eliminate the music of an audio file

Audio is like a cake once its all mixed.

You cant unbake and unmix a cake.

You can do very limited amounts of reduction in FFT..but will will never fully elimnate the audio.

Re: Order of effects

When doing noise reduction its best to find a sample of noise and copy to clipboard, then use that for the reduction profile.

Re: Order of effects

Run noise reduction before equalization. The reason being is that the EQ can actually alter the noise profile and make it more difficult to remove some types of noise. Keep the amount of processing down to reduce artifacting. Remember, this is noise reduction...not noise elimination. You will not ge...

I usually search for a matching segment to splice in first. But this is a unique segment in the song that I can't reproduce.

Not at the current time from what I can tell. Chris would need to update the VST code.
